As is the case in most renovation projects, the scope of work tends to grow as a result of opening up old walls and finding issues that need to be addressed. Two such issues here are ladybugs and flies–they seem to have infiltrated every hidden cavity!
We are now in the process of finishing the frame out of the newly designed master bed/bath/closet areas and are poised to begin installing the exterior finishes.
Below you will find a few more photos to document our progress. The South porch is now dried-in and awaiting the Pella windows and door–yes door. We have added a door from the new 2nd floor sunroom to a small walkout patio similar to the one on the front. Demolition is now complete on the North porch so now it’s time to frame the new laundry room and master closets.
The dirt, dust, bug shells, and whatever else may have been hiding in the wall cavities, have hit the floor and gotten swept away. We have demolished wall covering, walls, and several renovations of a particular ceiling/floor structure which may have been held in place by the old roof’s sheet metal and not much else. While expanding the 1st floor plan slightly, we will also convert an old 2nd floor porch on the South side of the house into an enclosed sun room with a walk-out balcony. On the North side, we are converting an open porch into walk-in closet space accessible from the new master suite.
