After many days dodging golf balls, we have completed the exterior work fronting the 3rd fairway of The Homestead’s Old Course. All of the interior work is complete now too, and the owner has moved the furniture in place. Many thanks to all who helped bring the desire of transforming this outdated getaway to fruition.

In an effort to get this project wrapped up by the end of the Summer, we’ve had several subcontractors helping with specialty tasks; Lowry Masonry for the brickwork, Capitol Granite for the countertop fabrication and installation; Chris Eberle for the carpet installation; Robinson’s Floor for the floor stain and sanding; and Julian Brinkley and crew for painting.

Andrew, Nathan, and Jeremy continue working together on all the carpentry and miscellaneous finishing tasks. We are currently installing the interior stair railing and the screen porch trim.

We are loving the warmer weather! Our crew has made great progress on the interior, having installed the flooring and the majority of trim work. We have also primed the walls, trim, and are refinishing the existing cabinetry. Todd Mason and Alan, of Mason Tile, have just completed tiling the floors and showers in all bathrooms. We are now  in the process of completing the interior trim work and await the floor finisher and the new countertops in the kitchen and master bath.

Having to make hay while the sun shines! An April snow shower has been followed close behind by the usual April showers, slowing down the exterior progress just a bit. Moyers drywall enjoyed the dry interior and completed the sheetrock installation and finishing. We continue to work on finishing the exterior as the weather allows…

Another snowstorm has moved through the valley and left behind 6″ of the white cold stuff. Outside work has been halted once again for the time being. The interior is nice and warm though as Creative Conservation has been here to provide spray foam insulation and fiberglass batts to seal things up. We have also been able to complete the electrical service upgrade and are now ready for sheetrock. Work continues on the exterior trim.

As this post is being written, over 16″ of snow has landed on the ground over the entire county–and many others across the east coast. Fortunately, we just put the last of the new dormer windows in as the first flakes began to fall. As we wait for better weather to begin trimming the exterior, the interior mechanical work is currently underway. Allegheny Highlands Mechanical has installed the new HVAC system, to allow for the additional square footage load, and Trey Williams has installed the plumbing to the new bathroom.
